Throughout the times I have been looking up authors for review, I mostly run into ones with pictures that would (in my opinion) not make me want to read their books. Although their covers come off as quite attractive, I do not think that the pictures these authors take would get me to go through the first page. Sometimes I find it quite difficult to set my personal biases aside, especially when the pictures will either make you laugh or cower in fear (personally, it’s the former not the latter when the time comes to glancing at these photos).

One of the ways authors need to come off as professional is to appear professional. I know sometimes making these ‘poses’ is in fun, there is a possibility that you might turn people off whenever you look at the photos, especially if they are bound to appear on the back of the book.

Although I do not mind sharing an occasional photo of myself every now and then, I do not take interest in posing to throw my fan base off, especially when the book is something worth selling.
